Resilience

If you look at the science about what is happening on earth and aren't pessimistic, you don't understand data. But if you meet the people who are working to restore this earth and you aren't optimistic, you haven't got a pulse.

As painful as it is, failure has been my friend. And it can be your friend too.

Really when I look back on it, I wouldn't change a thing. I mean, it was so important for me to lose everything because I found out what the most important thing is — to be true to yourself.

A lot of other folk will tell you that the sky is falling. I will not tell you that the sky is falling. I will say that those are pennies from heaven. Because I've seen this movie before and I know how it turns out.

Failure will teach you things that you can learn no place else. How else will you know yourself or the strength of your friendships until both have been tested by adversity?

It is much easier to describe the structural challenges we face than to describe the human response to those challenges that will change history.

Recognize that you are the change you seek. You are the great agents of change in the world. You can adapt, you can embrace, you can respond in ways that will better your life and better the life of your society. You cannot ignore them. You cannot fight them. But what you can do is adapt and make the world a better place.

Nearly losing my life made me want to live my life.

It is what you do during those valleys that will determine the heights of your peaks.

The best way to deal with most difficulties and challenges is to see them as opportunities to help us grow—lessons that are presented to us to help us go further than we have gone before.

If you run out of hope at the end of the day, rise in the morning and put it on again with your shoes.

The first five minutes of the game does not decide the outcome. It never does.
