You cannot let a fear of failure or a fear of comparison or a fear of judgment stop you from doing the things that will make you great. You cannot succeed without the risk of failure. You cannot have a voice without the risk of criticism. You cannot love without the risk of loss. You must take these risks.

L'histoire derrière cette citation
In the climactic moment of his speech, Day described how he almost backed out of giving the commencement address itself after watching brilliant speeches by Conan O'Brien, Stephen Colbert, and Steve Jobs on YouTube. The snarky comments section terrified him even more. But he showed up anyway, and delivered the thesis of his entire address: the things most worth doing in life — from his first play, to hosting Saturday Night Live, to getting married and becoming a father — have all been terrifying prospects. His lesson: 'I don't give a shit.' Fear is inevitable, but letting it stop you is optional.
