Talent is really the gift of love. Talent happens when you are in love with something and you devote your life to it, and it's your love of it that makes you want to keep doing it.

L'histoire derrière cette citation
In her eighth suggestion — 'Splurge your life by doing something you love' — Suzan-Lori Parks shared wisdom from her husband Paul, a musician, who had reframed the entire concept of talent. Rather than seeing talent as an innate gift that some people have and others don't, he argued that talent is simply what emerges when you love something enough to devote your life to it. The insight was especially meaningful coming from Parks, whose own career demonstrated the principle perfectly. When her high school teacher told her she lacked talent for English, the judgment could have been devastating. But Parks's love for writing and storytelling was stronger than any external assessment. That love drove her through obstacles and ultimately produced the extraordinary body of work that earned her a Pulitzer Prize.
