Believing you can do something is the first step to doing it. Don't let anyone put limits on you. Don't put limits on yourself.

इस उद्धरण के पीछे की कहानी

Sandberg structured her speech around three keys to achieving full potential, with the first and most important being self-belief. She illustrated this with a personal story: when both she and her brother had dates cancel on them in high school, she spent the weekend moping and wondering what was wrong with her, while her brother decided the girl had 'missed out on a great thing' and went off to play basketball. She also shared how she and her brother took a college class together — she attended every lecture and read every book, while he went to a few lectures and read two books. After exams, he was certain he'd aced it while she was certain she'd failed. Sandberg used these stories to illustrate what Arianna Huffington calls the 'obnoxious roommate in our heads' — the self-doubt that holds people back from sitting at the table, speaking up, and reaching their potential.
