You don't have to be smarter than the next person. All you have to do is be willing to work harder than the next person.

Do not take no for an answer. Not when you're applying for jobs. Not when you actually get a job. The food court at the mall is littered with people who didn't fight for it. Fight for it.

Don't get comfortable. Ever. If you're not too comfortable, it's always easier to leave, to move on, and hopefully to move up.

A career decision based only on money and not on love of the work or a desire to make a difference is a recipe for unhappiness.

You have to figure out what you love to do, what you have conviction about, and go do that.

When you're doing what you love to do, you become resilient. You create a habit of taking chances on yourself.

You don't have to have a dream. Be micro-ambitious. Put your head down and work with pride on whatever is in front of you. You never know where you might end up.

Pursuing your dream, I believe, is the path you should follow. If you follow that road, you might not end up at your dream, but you will end up doing something that gives you immense satisfaction.

The best definition I have ever heard of a vocation is that it's the place where your great joy meets the world's great need.

It ain't where you start in life, it's where you end up and what you did along the way.

Say yes to opportunity. Sink or swim, it'll change your life.

It just doesn't pay to be a jerk. Kindness, respect, and all that good stuff — it just goes a long way.
