Tomlin challenged the graduates to think beyond the 'ever-looming scoreboard' of fame, fortune, and conventional measures of success. He told them they had an obligation to give back to their communities and make the world a better place for their children and their children's children. While those contributions might not register on life's scoreboard, he said, they represented the truest measure of a life well played.
