Bullock closed her brief, heartfelt speech by circling back to her opening theme. She told the graduates that nothing about their future failures would be permanent — 'Nothing is a failure. It's just not supposed to work out that way because something better is supposed to come along.' What would last, she insisted, were not the worries or the what-ifs or who wronged them, but the moments of genuine joy. She then thanked the Warren Easton community for the joy they brought her, telling the Class of 2014 that they made her walk out into the world with pride.
