Stone told the story of being left behind by organized sports because he spent ages six through ten in Boy Rangers instead of Little League. By high school, everyone else knew the rules and he was hopelessly behind. His solution: research a sport nobody at his school played — lacrosse — then approach the administration and offer to start a team himself. With his intimidation gone, he turned out to be really good at lacrosse, was elected captain, and led a competitive team. The lesson shaped his entire entrepreneurial career, including co-founding Twitter.
