Joy is not a choice, not a response to some result, it is a constant. Joy is the feeling we have from doing what we are fashioned to do, no matter the outcome.

这句语录背后的故事
Matthew McConaughey, the Academy Award-winning actor, delivered a sprawling, deeply personal commencement address at the University of Houston built around thirteen life lessons. In distinguishing happiness from joy, he shared his own transformation as an actor. He had spent years chasing external validation — box office numbers, peer respect, critical acclaim — and found himself perpetually unsatisfied because happiness 'demands a certain outcome' and 'we immediately raise it every time we attain it.' But when the daily work itself became its own reward, he paradoxically got more accolades than ever. Joy, he argued, is always 'under construction' — it lives in the doing, not in the result.
