The world is not going to issue you an engraved invitation to this life. You've already received an engraved invitation to this life. You've already been asked to attend.

这句语录背后的故事

Heidt explored the multiple meanings of the word 'attend' — from the Latin, it means 'to stretch to,' encompassing everything from directing the mind and listening to watching over, ministering, and waiting for. She noted that attending is not just showing up in the body but directing ears, mind, and energies toward something. She asked the graduates to put away their phones and be fully present for her talk, arguing that the fragmentation of our awareness has become such a cultural commonplace that we stand to miss the incipient meaning, sensory data, beauties and curiosities, perplexities and pains and joys that fill every moment to the brim.
