I do not believe that the poison clouds of polluted air must inevitably consume our atmosphere. I believe there are answers, and I think I am looking into the faces of several hundred of those answers this morning.

Our country is not a completed work. Over the two centuries since 1776, America has gone from beginning to beginning.

Protest without purpose is a perversion of democratic privilege.

There is a narrow but distinct line between productive dissent and counter-productive disruption. It is possible to dissent without being destructive.

The right to protest exists to protect the powerless from the powerful. When protest itself becomes a form of power, it must be exercised with the same responsibility we demand of all power.

Our problems are manmade — therefore, they can be solved by man. And man can be as big as he wants. No problem of human destiny is beyond human beings.

For peace is a process — a way of solving problems.

We all inhabit this small planet. We all breathe the same air. We all cherish our children's future. And we are all mortal.
