这句语录背后的故事

Brinck framed this advice through the story of Steve Jobs, whom he called his hero not for his success but for what he went through to achieve it. Jobs was kicked out of Apple, nearly ran out of money at NeXT and Pixar, and only in 'the final hour' did things come together. But through it all, Jobs maintained a vision to 'transform the world by giving everyday people access to computers.' Brinck illustrated the principle with his own work. His design agency created websites accessible to people with disabilities — designed so blind people could browse them. When a blind man visited and said the sites were easy to navigate, Brinck initially said they hadn't done anything special. The man corrected him: 'Of course you've done something special; most websites are difficult or impossible to navigate for blind people.' Sometimes giving something to the world is as simple as following basic guidelines that others can't be bothered with. For art and design graduates, the message was that technical skill is necessary but not sufficient. What distinguishes meaningful creative work is a vision oriented toward service — not just making beautiful things, but making things that make people's lives better.
