Davis illustrated this principle through three remarkable friends: Steve, who meditated for 65 days after living in an Indian cave for four years before having a flash about vegetable protein and eventually selling his soy milk company for $295 million; Matthieu, a molecular biologist who became a Tibetan monk and bestselling author; and Martin, who started a rubber company in the Amazon and secured indigenous land rights the size of the United Kingdom. What they all had in common, Davis said, was that they put themselves in situations where there was no choice but to move forward.
