The only answer to more hate is more humanity. We gotta replace fear with curiosity.

You must be weak before the world, because love and listening weaken you. They make you vulnerable. They break you open.

Conversations about grass length and the weather are really conversations about how we are going to get through, and how we are going to get through together.

The world is not a meritocracy, but merit still matters. The world isn't fair, but being fair still matters. The world is unkind, but being kind still matters, perhaps more than anything.

Generosity leads to joy. It's simple and it's guaranteed.

We are linked, we are not ranked. We are linked with each other, we are linked with nature. And the paradigm becomes a circle, not a pyramid.

Don't make the mistake of comparing your twisted up insides to other people's blow-dried outsides.

It is okay to encourage others to pull themselves up by their bootstraps. But if you do, just remember that some people have no boots.

Helping others ends up helping you more than anyone. Getting out of your own concerns and caring about someone else's life for a while reminds you that you are not the center of the universe.

Make it about the power of we! Because, if you do, you'll have a lot more than 'things worth having' — you'll have 'a life worth living.' And you can write that one down in pen.
